GM only sold 1005 Buick Regals in January down from 1800 or so units in January of 2012.
I hope this car finds its niche within the Buick lineup to continue past the current generation.
It is getting squeezed pretty bad on the low end by Verano, a fine car.
The US market needs the coupe, convertible, and wagon variants to truly differentiate the Regal line from Verano and LaCrosse. It is also a fairly low cost move for GM due to the Opel products already being there on the shelf for a Buick makeover.
When they actually do touch the chassis again there should be better size differentiation between the three car line up as well.
I agree that the introduction of the Verano canibalized Regal sales. Pretty obvious GM/Buick is on board with the Verano. I think us Regal owners are going to belong to a small exclusive club.

With the sales numbers they are getting they should be. I am glad Buick outsold Audi, Acura, Infiniti, and Lincoln this month.
I just came out of a G8 GT in a private sale. It created a huge down payment for my Regal.
Of course in my happy place I am driving a new badass Cutlass or Aurora around.
Cant see the regal outselling the Cadillac ATS, Nissan Altima, Maxima, Toyota Camary, Kia Optima or the Ford Fusion.......with the Verano and Lacrosse much better options, the Regal is the one that will be left on the outside.....cant see it going beyond 2015. I have a 2011, and have had alot of problems with it lately (See leaker in engine discussion)....if these things become a problem in the Regal line, sales will plummet even more. I know my wife will never buy another one.

If the boys at Opel have issues designing an Insignia (Regal) why would I think they would be better designing an Astra (Verano)? LaCrosse was more of an American with Chinese tastes in mind design.

Thanks.....it goes back today for the teardown.....has a check engine light issue as well.......i hope it runs as good or better than it does now....but the ol saying is....never runs as good after being disassembled from the factory....we'll see...I'll keep you posted as things unfold. Hard to compete with foreign engineering and reputation....esp Honda and Acura....they run forever w/o issues.

Your car was probably bulit on a wednesday.... Got a Verano as a loaner....very nice car, and much more comfortable than our Regal...seats are sporty....they hug your entire torso, and very soft leather. Back seat room is tight though.....other than that, I give it 2 thumbs up..........
I sat in my first TSX the other day. A 2010. I have nothing bad to say about it. They are a bit of a dime a dozen here in Northern Virginia. Same goes for BMWs and every generation of Tan Toyota Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Highlander, and Pious.
