Whats better for the Regal: Synthetic or Conventional?
So does anyone know what the FSM recommends? Is it Synthetic or conventional? Also which one do you guys think would be better to use? I know technically synthetic is better than conventional but in some vehicles conventional is more than enough for the motor.
Id go with whatever the FSM would recommend for it. They put a lot of time into doing research on whats the best for it so why not follow their recommendation.
i would go with synthetic no matter what. theyre engineered to lubricate better and outlast conventional oil. the extra price you pay when you buy them is worth the extra protection and longevity that they provide.
According to Buick, my Regal (Russelheim) came from the factory with "synthetic blend". Mobile One advertises as being "Factory Fill' for the Regals twin, the Opel Insignia.
The GM dealership uses a DEXOS certified synthetic blend for the 2.4L engine. I usually go to my local QuikLube and use a DEXOS certified fully synthetic oil, and change oil/filter every 5500 km (3300 miles).

I to use Mobil One Dexos full synthtic 5w30 oil in my 2011. The factory fill is a syn. blend but to me the full syn will hold up better and the small extra cost is worth the warm and fuzzy feeling I get using the full synthetic version of the Dexos oil. LOL
