Coming up on 1st oil change?

I've always been a 3000 mile oil change guy. I'm comming up on it pretty soon. Any recomendations out there on change intervals? Oil Life monitor indicates 85%. Not sure if I should do the 1st change at 3000 and then go with Oil Life monitor or stick with 3000 mile change.

3000 is old school and a waste for "most".

Pick your oil/filter combo and interval. Go with it.
At the first change, pull a sample and send for analysis. Adjust interval from there.

Hes right there are kits you can use to analyze your oil, but 3000 mile is fine i mean oil changes are the cheapest things you can do...

Yes but changing oil sooner than needed is waisting oil that is in high demand. This is one of the reasons for the Dexsos oil is to lengthen oil change intervals. My 2011 went to 11,000 miles and still showed 15% oil life left. I changed the oil and then about 8,500 miles with 22% oil life showing. The dealer reprogrammed my cpu to turn the oil change light on at approx. 5500-6,000 miles. They said that the Dexsos oil was not holding up to 10,000 miles like they thought it would so change it around 5-6K. I use Mobil One full synthetic 5W30 Dexsos oil.
