I want to install LED lights, but don't know how to remove the black taillight assembly covers to get access to the metal backing to the lights. It looks a bit complicated. Thanks for any help anyone can provide. :)

Loosen the trunk liner to expose the actual trunk. Unscrew the two large plastic thumb screws that hold the light assembly on. The light assembly can then be removed from the quarter panel.

Thanks, Rob! I just swapped the lights out. Upon testing them, I noticed that they both blink "normally" about 3 times then start blinking more rapidly. Is there something I can do to stop the rapid blinking?

You're going to have to add a resistor; LEDs don't have the proper resistance that the flasher module needs to modulate the blinks. I'm not sure of the capacitance needed though, sorry.
