Earlier last month, Buick unveiled its 2013 Verano Turbo model, sporting a new 2.0-liter, turbo-four with 250-hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

And despite such a generous jump in performance compared to its predecessor, the 2013 Verano Turbo gets respectable fuel economy with the EPA releasing its official figures at 20-mpg city, 31-mpg highway. This is impressive considering the 2012 Verano Turbo model with just 180-hp and 171 lb-ft of torque was rated at 21-mpg city, 32-mpg highway.

So will the boost in performance be worth it to interested buyers in the front-wheel drive compact market? Only time will tell if fuel efficiency is still at the top of everyone’s list. There’s no arguing the Verano Turbo’s boost in performance with a minimal decrease in mpg is welcoming. No pricing has been announced on the 2013 Verano Turbo model yet.
