Considering a Regal

I'm giving serious consideration to trading my '10 Taurus for a Regal. The LaCrosse was just too much luxury for me, but the Regal is just the right 'in between'.

I didn't know the Regal was coming when I bought in December. Found out a few days later. Based on a test drive the other day, I'm almost certain I would've gone with the Regal had they both been available. The only thing I can find to 'not like' about it is is the cut of the trunk lid down the side of the car. I know why they did it, but it just jumps out and looks wrong to me.

I'd be interested in hearing some comments from folks who have a few miles under their belts now. What don't you like? Would you buy it again?

I purchased a new Regal with delivery on July 13, 2010. The car now has about 2600 km on it and I have enjoyed it very much. Anyone considering the purchase of a Regal must recognize that it is classified as a sports sedan and the ride is somewhat similar to a BMW rather than a traditional Buick. However, I am 75 years old and it was not difficult to adapt.

The ride, handling, quietness are outstanding with a very solid body structure. Also, I find the power train to be excellent. More than sufficient power for the average user.

The only criticism I have is that the outside mirrors are somewhat narrow and restrict the field of view when they are set to check the blind spots.

My recomendation would be to wait until the vehicle is built in Oshawa, Ontario when more colors, both exterior and interior, will be available as well as a more varied option list.

I would buy the car again.
Thanks for your response. I noticed that the side mirrors seemed smallish, but I'm sure that's something a driver would get used to.
Trade the Taurus! I find the Regal much more comfortable and roomy than the Taurus. I looked into it before I bought as well. I am glad I chose the Regal.
The Regal is noticeably smaller to me, but I'm used to the Taurus. If I'd seen them both for 10 minutes on the same day it probably wouldn't be as apparent.

The Taurus is far and away the most comfortable, stylish car I've ever purchased. I suspect I'd feel the same way had I bought the Regal. And I may still. :)

The list of standard features on the Regal is impressive. Many of those are options on the Ford... and packaged so you almost always end up spending money on something you don't care about. They've got that packaging figured out.
you gotta to remember that the regal is pretty much a german car. thats why it will be luxurious, fun to drive, and well engineered. my opinion trade the taurus and dont look back.

Yeah. I've heard a lot of automotive journalists say how it drives, feels, and looks like a german engineered car. Definitely a good idea of Buick to use the Opel Insignia as a base for the 2011 Regal.

The new Taurus is a WAY larger car.
