General quality issues

Although I do like the appearance and styling of my 2011 Regal CXL, I am disappointed with the number of quality issues I have experienced in my German-built sedan. Here's a sobering list of issues I have experienced:

had service recall to fix selonoid issue causing a loud "rattle" on start-up.
- had computer reset to try and fix hard shifts in transmission
- had passenger taillight assembly replaced due to condensation buildup on the inside of the lens
- had passenger taillight assembly replaced again due to condensation buildup
- had car towed to dealership (50,000 km) due to thermostat failure causing engine temp warning
- received recall notice to fix software for oil monitor system
- rear brake caliper seized (58,000 km) requiring replacement of rotor and pads
- have now noticed that driver's side rear taillight assembly is now completely fogged up with internal condensation and will need replacing

Has anyone else experienced these seemingly never ending service calls? My car is still under warranty but the brake issue will cost me out of pocket. All of the other issues were or will be fixed under warranty, but it still leaves me without a car for the day when service is required. For the money I paid for this car, I expected a lot better quality than what I received. The last GM product I bought cost a LOT less and had no issues during the time (160,000 km and 4 years) that I owned it.

I have a 2011 Regal built in Russelsheim Germany as well and I haven't had any of those issues, yet. (Knock on wood) My heater element for the seat had to be replaced under warranty. I have had an occasional rough idle that can't be reproduced by the dealer but that is it. Sorry for your problems. It is very frustrating to be without your car. I know, mine was rear ended and I was without it for almost 3 months.
re: the seat heater element: I too had to get my driver's side heating element replaced under warranty last November. Forgot to add that to my list.
I also have a 2011 Regal built in Russelsheim Germany. Like the car looks, handling ETC. but I didn't expect to see number of issues for the price of the car.

Problems:
1. Oil leak at engine / trans
2. Replaced drivers seat heater element
3. Gas cap door won't lock
4. Just got a "customer satisfaction program" for oil life monitor system software update.
5. Gas milage has dropped off.
6. Got my first engine knock on start up lasted about 3-5 seconds. 10,000 mile on car. I change the oil every 3,000 miles
Dealer told me #4 was just to get the oil change life to countdown a little quicker.

Just for giggles, I looked up recalls on my 2007 silverado - 0.
Wow. Oshawa built 2012 here. Just filled out my surveys after 5 months of owership. Quality has been outstanding up to this point. Of course I am barely at 1800 on the odometer.

Hi mluick,
Sorry to hear about the issues you've experienced with your vehicle. So you are completely satisfied with your vehicle, feel free to PM me your VIN and mileage and I'd be happy to look up any warranty information for you if need be. We definitely recommend having your vehicle looked at by your local Buick dealer if you continue to have issues.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you,
Sara

As far as Point 6 goes check out the thread I started here:

http://www.regalforums.com/forums/engine-discussion/2396-rattle-when-starting-2-4l-engine.html

If you scroll down far enough, there is a GM program to deal with that issue up here in Canada, so I am assuming there will be one down in the USA as well. That service program did fix the "rattle at start-up" issue, but I've noticed that I use a little more gas/100 km since then.

I said I like the way the car looks and handles, with all the issues how do you interprit that i'm completely satisfied. Do you think that people who buy a new car like to have it in the shop instead of their garage?
German built TO4 with (knock on wood) none of the issues mentioned by anyone in this thread.
I too have a German built 2011 Regal. Had to have the front brake pads and rotors replaced at around 25 k miles. Also had the loud rattle at start up and had that fixed. Had a loud bumping coming from the front left and the dealer had to replace the control arm assembly. I also hear it in the right front but the dealer couldn't pin point the cause so nothing has been done. All work was done under warranty thank goodness. I also received my letter regarding the "satisfaction program" on the oil monitoring system but haven't had that done yet. I am now getting outside of my warranty coverage and am very nervous about the quality going forward.
I am also now occasionally getting the "hard shift" I have been reading about. Plus, if I need to accelerate quickly the transmission drops into a gear low enough to redline the tach on my 2.4 liter with no power and I am forced to let off the accelerator. I don't know if this is a result of a poorly computer regulated transmission or just the result of an under powered 4 cyl engine?
Love my Regal, but the jury is out for now from a quality standpoint.

Golf Regal - re: the transmission - I don't think it's an underpowered engine. My tranny is hard-shifting and does the same thing (ie: dropping into too low a gear) sometimes when I put my foot down hard. The dealer reset the computer once but I didn't notice anything different. It's definitely not reminiscent of the smooth-shifting automatics that GM used to make.
With regard to item 3, it happened to me a few months ago and I determined the gas cap tether cord was interfering with the locking mechanism. I simply moved the cord and the locking mechanism has worked ever since.

My 2011 Regal CXL is also German made, 30,000 km, and the two rear turn signal bulbs had to be replaced. The transmission shifts from 1 - 2 and from 2 - 3 are noticeable but not harsh. All other shifts are imperceptible. No other issues. This Regal is my 26th new car and the best of them all.
Gas cap door lock repaired today, the lock mechanism had fallen apart.
Hmmm...just doing a spring clean-up on my Regal and found out I can't open the trunk unless I use the remote. The manual release doesn't seem to work so it looks like another trip to the dealer. Anyone else experience this??
I have a 2011 Regal Turbo - currently about 26k miles on it.

Ive had the driver side seat warmer replaced so far. But I also have the 2 following issues:
1. uncommanded braking when I first start to drive the car after it was parked - I started another thread on this.
2. Driving home from work yesterday, driving about 48/50 mph, I noticed a slight surge where the engine was cycling between surging and loosing power. When I noticed it, I payed attention to what I was doing and the speed. I was just cruising and it cycled about 10/12 times. When I changed speeds it went away. So it might have been a momentary glitch.

I really like how nimble it is and how it rides on the highway. I wished it had more power - I will not buy a car with a black interior here in Texas so the GS is out. Ive only owned GM vehicles so to get that power I might have to go to the ATS or CTS but not sure I want to spend the extra money.
Only issue with mine is the center caps on the wheels needed replaced! I have yet to use the seat warmer since its summer. So I gotta wait a while to use it! I hope it works! I see this is a common issue!
Well I haven't seen as many heated seat elements lately ( of course it is summer ) , but only fixed most of them in the 2011 years then they started taper off thru 2012.
Little Issues .... so far.

I've owned my 2011 since 12-31-11. Less tahn 12000 miles on it. Like the car, but have had 3 warranty repairs for "silly" stuff:
1) Drivers rear turn signal bulb replacement.
2) A small end cap from the HVAC fell out from under the dash.
3) Drivers rear window came off track.
Nothing major, but I am getting the feeling there are build quality issues with this car. Waiting to have to replace the seat heater(s). That seems to be pretty automatic for this model year.
General Repairs

Well, here it is, October 10, getting the driver heat seater replaced. Had to wait 1 1/2 hours for a "Diagnostic" to verify the issue. Of course, no parts in stock. Goes back to the dealer October 14 for repair. Taking alot of my time to get this car right.......not what you expect when you buy a Buick.
