Slight issue with USB.

So I got the car 2 days ago, so far, I'm in love with everything. The only thing is that when I plug in my Zune through the USB port, it wont play. I realize that some MP3 players aren't compatible.. however, it recognizes the player as a Zune, and it even indexes all of the songs that I have loaded on it. When I select a song for it to play, it displays the 'play' arrow and two seconds later, the play arrow has a straight line at the end of it and then it skips to the next song... where the same thing happens again. I have also tried updating the Zune's software in hopes that it would fix the problem. After all my frustration I bought an aux input cable so that I am able to listen to my Zune while driving. I would loove to be able to select songs through my stereo as opposed to the actual player.. if anyone has any suggestions on what to do please help!

I'm not 100% sure but the USB port for the car is only for flash drives. The car will detect that its a zune just because thats the name of the drive and will also be able to "see" the files. But it will probably not be able to play them. Some MP3 players have a feature that they switch to a flash drive instead of an MP3 player once they're hooked up via USB port. That might be whats the problem. Worst case go to the dealership and ask them about it.
My experience with two Ford vehicles with SYNC... maybe the GM system is similar.

First time you plug in a new USB , SYNC recognizes that you're using USB line-in, but says you it can't do anything with it because it's unsupported. And then it just sits there until you tell it to play it anyway via the SYNC menu. And that particular USB device is fine after that... take it out and put it back and it picks up where it left off.
I think he already did that. Considering he said he updated the software and tried it again. I think the Sync wouldn't have a problem playing Zune since they're both made by Microsoft.
Just a little update for you. On the Terrain forums there are reports of the same problem with the ZUNE. GM will probably have to come out with an update to make it work correctly with the cars/trucks.

Is it just with the Zune? Have you heard of the system having any other problems with any other mp3 players?

Just the ZUNE so far. The ZUNE works fine if plugged into the AUX but not the USB.
I have used my old ipod nano (I think version 2) works fine, Id's as a ipod and works correctly. I have not tried a usb drive yet.
Hello,

Anyone figure out how to make the newer ipods work? My IPOD is a year old and I get a "not recognized" message.

Thanks in advance.
I use my iPhone 3gs and 4 no problems here

Have you downloaded any updates for your Ipod recently?
