Spare tire questions for Regal GS

20210 Views 12 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  Northeast GS
I just ordered a Rgal GS with Auto. I now find out it does not come with a spare or jack, but comes with an inflation kit, I have 4 questions,
1 Do the non Gs Regals that come with 19 inch wheels come with a spare tire?
2If they do will the spare tire rim fit the GS wheel?
3If so will the wheel and jack fit in the trunk and fasten done like the original car is meant for.
4What if any is the part number for the spare tire and jack and price.

I am trading a 2009 G8 GT that did not come with a spare. I never felt secure so I ordered a spare and jack for $400.00 as it had to come from Australia.
I would appreciate any info , Thanks in advance

How about a tire plug kit? Slime makes a nice 63-pc commercial kit for $40-50. If you're going to go this route, go with a quality kit instead of the $7 blister-pack from Walmart.
I was wrong! Amazon has it for less than $25. But they're currently out of stock.
keep the spare from the g8- it will fit the rears, but unless its an 18", not over the brembos..you need a minimum 18" wheel to cover it, just like the g8 gxp.
worst case scenario, if you have a flat in the front, you take off the rear wheel, put it on the front, take the spare and put it on the rear.
I bought this kit from the tire rack that inflated and seals punctures, works pretty well.

The GM accessory catalogs from dealers list a spare tire and jack combo for the car. Don't know the price but I'm sure it's not cheap

Spare tire that fits the 2015 Regal GS Brembros!

Just wanted to let everyone know who has a 2011-2016 Regal GS with the big Brembros up front that I just purchased a spare tire from a company called Performance Spare.

Products

BUICK REGAL GS (PRE-ORDER)

The website is a little screwy, but you can find the kits for the Buick Regal GS under the 'products' tab. It still lists them as pre-order, but I was possibly the first Regal GS customer.

I got mine today, and it installs/clears the brakes perfectly! I'm glad not to rely on the fix-a-flat supplied by GM. Also note that the regular Regal (non-GS) spare won't clear the Brembros up front. The Performance Spare is an 18in wheel with a full-speed rated tire--no 55mph limits. Still, just remember that as-is, it's a touch smaller than the stock 19/20in GS wheel and tire combo, so when installed on the front tire, the car will pull away from the spare while driving and pull toward the spare when braking. The IS EXPECTED and a result of the slight size difference. Otherwise, it's not meant for long-term use, just long enough to get you home where you can replace your full size tire. It works great and fits (with the jack supplied in the kit) in the trunk/spare wheel well! (I'm not sure a stock-equal diameter spare would have fit in the trunk well.

I did order the GM retaining nut (part no 1161908) and used it to secure the jack in place. I did place two thin, small terry towels between the jack and spare to protect the spare's finish from scratching. Als, there was just enough space around the bottom to store the jack handle/lug wrench, etc. (DO NOT order the foam insert from the base model Regals to hold the jack/handle/etc. It won't fit underneath the Performance Spare.)

Anyway, hope that helps! See the attached photos. For now, be a little patientwith the guys at Performance Spare--they just got these in and are shipping out the pre-orders, so it may take 2-4 weeks until yours arrives. Tell Randle that Paul in Brmingham sent you!

Found this product from one of the posts at buickforums and I ended up buying it, my car is a 2017 GS with Brembos. Just did a test run of the jack and the spare. The spare looks too nice to be a spare and it clears the Brembos without a problem. The jack pad fit perfectly on the small plastic pad that the factory installed on the frame weld. The jack pad fit perfectly on the small plastic pad that the factory installed on the frame weld. So far so good.

Paul...

this helped me alot. its a bitter pill to swallow especially after investing in a full size 20" gs spare.... but i need the trunk space an need a spare.

ordered mine today, just wanted to say thanks. not much info out there on this but especially the pics....seeing it on my same car (even the same color) made all the difference. you should get a kickback
Has anyone tried a 2010 to 2019 Camaro spare tire? Camaro uses a T155/70R18 and has the same bolt pattern as a Regal GS of 5 x120. The tire fits all Camaro's except the Camaro SS. I see a used one for sale, hate to buy something that does not fit. Picture of 2015 Camaro spare tire attached.

Never tried, but looks nice.
I have a Spare wheel from my 2017 GS with Jack, Jack holder & factory felt under spare. All brand new. Looks factory. Fits under black trunk liner.
Works on front and rear with no issues. I never had to use it.
